​Recent analysis reveals that SME growth companies in Denmark  have not evolved into global industrial leaders in the last 20 years.

There are many factors contributing to the current trend in SME stagnation. While analysis continues, NIC has decided to intervene in this opportunity to enable SME’s to become global industry winners through a long term “buy and build” strategy.

NIC focuses primarily on a latent (unpublished) market segment in which acquisitions are made based on dialog initiated among a discreet network of owners, advisors and investors.

Investment criteria

The industries we invest in must have superior outlooks in terms of growth potential and profitability for the coming 10 - 20 years. NIC must possess the necessary industry knowledge in our leadership to actually understand the drivers of the industry and to contribute to the value creation within the industry:

We invest in SME companies with a turnover typically within the range of EUR 10M to 75M and untapped global potential. In order to ensure good return on investment it is important that the companies we invest in meet the following specific investment criteria:
  • Scalability - closely linked to international potential or possible synergies
  • Proof of Business Model – beyond the seed and venture phase
  • Companies that we understand - and can add value to
  • Strong or replaceable management teams
  • We will be a majority shareholder or invest with a strategic partner
  • Well placed in the value chain. Brands, patents, proprietary knowledge to build on
